If you manage streets, plant sites, or simply a busy car park, you probably don’t think about drainage until a storm hits. I do—probably too much. After a month of site visits across northern China and two very wet weeks back in Europe, I kept coming back to one workhorse: the ductile iron Gully Grate Cover built to EN 124. It sounds niche, but small decisions here prevent big maintenance headaches later.
Product: Ductile Iron Gully Grids & Gratings, 400x400, Class B125, suitable for carriageways and main roads. Material is GGG500-7—tough, ductile, and forgiving under dynamic loads. Coated with bitumen for corrosion resistance; in real-world use, I’ve found it reduces early rust staining, especially around landscaping.
| Material | Ductile cast iron GGG500-7 (Rm ≥ 500 MPa, A ≥ 7%) |
| Standard | EN 124 (Classes B125, C250, D400, E600, F900) |
| Nominal Sizes | 400×400, 500×500, 600×600 (custom logos/patterns optional) |
| Coating | Bitumen painting (≈ 50–80 μm; real-world use may vary) |
| Load Test (B125) | 125 kN required; typical factory result ≈ 130–135 kN |
| Production | 20,000 tons/year, delivery 20–30 days; T/T, L/C, D/P |
Process flow in a nutshell: high-quality scrap and pig iron are melted, treated with magnesium for nodularity, poured via green-sand molds, then shot-blasted, machined, and coated. QC includes metallography (nodularity check), dimensional inspection, proof-load per EN 124-2, and sometimes a salt-spray check (ISO 9227) on coated coupons. Service life? In well-seated frames with routine cleaning, 20–40 years is realistic; I’ve seen older ones last longer.
Many customers say the anti-slip pattern and hinge/lock options reduce theft and rattling. I guess it’s the small things—no one misses the clanking.

From Room 1005, Building 1-2, Phase I, North China Golden Sun Commercial City, Xinhuanan Road, Xingtai (yes, that’s the full address), the team ships in wooden boxes or pallets. Custom anti-skid patterns and branded logos are popular—surprisingly, municipalities love the civic crest. Payment flexibility (T/T, L/C, D/P) helps procurement cycles.
Case 1: A municipal upgrade used 600×600 D400 with hinged Gully Grate Cover near a bus corridor. After 18 months, zero reports of rocking or frame wear. Case 2: A warehouse apron opted for C250 near dock doors; feedback noted better surface water capture after swapping out older, warped grates.
